T-Mobile rep quits after company's unethical sale practices

T-Mobile seems to land itself in hot waters occasionally, whether it's related to a service outage or a controversy regarding building a cell tower in a school space, making the town's residents feel unsafe due to potential exposure to electromagnetic waves. Now, there is news of the company's sales rep quitting due to the questionable sales tactics of telecommunication service providers that have not aligned with many employees lately.

T-Mobile rep parted ways after the company underwent major changes amidst the merger and has not been the same

The T-Mobile employee took to social media to announce his decision to leave the company where he worked sincerely for seven years. In the post on Reddit, the ex-employee shared his disappointment with the company's direction and expressed relief when he finally quit. He blamed the work dynamics, questioned the work ethics post-merger, and believed the company had gone downhill since then.

In his post, the T-Mobile employee mentioned that this is not how he always felt about the company. Previously, he used to take pride in being part of the team, but in recent times, that feeling has changed as the company underwent huge shifts. He further pointed out the Sprint merger and the role it played in a poor working environment:

There was a time when I loved working here, but everything changed with the Sprint merger. I held onto hope that things would improve post-merger, but now that T-Mobile is fully integrated, things have only deteriorated.

To support his stance, he backed up his feelings of dismay with the company's way of treating their employees with unrealistic goals and expectations to adopt unethical strategies for sales. He mentioned how many other co-workers and managers shared the same feeling and sought opportunities elsewhere amidst the work pressure. He further stated:

I'm not alone in feeling this way. Many experienced reps, RAMs, and managers have left, leaving behind a workforce that's burned out and actively seeking other opportunities.

The ex-rep highlighted T-Mobile's shady sales tactics that did not align with his way of working and became the major reason for his decision to part ways. In his post, he quoted a specific incident where customers were forced to accept change, and their consent was not considered, among many other unethical practices being implemented to sustain sales. It is said that the shift in organizational practices stemmed from the CEO John Legere leaving and Mike Sievert taking his place.

We cannot be certain whether the leadership change is attributed to these reported sales-grabbing tactics and success shortcuts. However, we know for sure that if these feelings reside with a major chunk of the employees, it could be detrimental to the company's image and could eventually lead to a huge employee turnover.

If we are to believe the account provided by the former employee, T-Mobile needs to reevaluate its strategies and address these concerns before it causes major damage to the telecommunication service provider.
