The new AORUS Gen5 14000 SSD takes things to the next level by leveraging the Phison PS5026-E26 Gen5 controller based on the 12nm process node and a 232-layer 3D TLC NAND Flash which comes with 8 flash channels with 64 CEs and DDR4 caching support. The SSDs comply with the NVMe 2.0 standard and offer double the speed of the fastest PCIe Gen4 SSDs, which peaked at around 7.4 GB/s.

In terms of performance, the Gigabyte AORUS Gen5 14000 SSD features a read speed of up to 14,500 MB/s (14.5 GB/s) Read and 12,700 MB/s (12.7 GB/s) Write. The speeds range across each model and the fastest one is the 2 TB drive. The 1 TB drive is rated at 13,600/10,200 MB/s & the higher-capacity 4 TB variant is rated at 14,100/12,600 MB/s Read and Write speeds, respectively.

Due to the high-end nature of these Gen5 SSDs, Gigabyte recommends using a dedicated heatsink for its AORUS Gen5 14000 SSDs as they can get toasty when running at peak load as is the case with the majority of Gen5 drives. The company hasn't yet revealed a heatsink model like it offered its previous Gen5 drivers but we can expect a variant in the future. As for pricing and availability, there's no information yet but we can expect a launch in the next couple of months.
