OnePlus phones recently started getting access to an AI eraser feature, which leverages the power of AI to make sure that you can remove unwanted objects from your photos. That was the first time the company decided to bring out any AI-powered features to its devices, but it now appears that the support is about to extend as we go forward, as both OnePlus and OPPO have confirmed that Google's Gemini model is indeed coming to their devices in the future.

OnePlus and OPPO have some really ambitious AI plans for their devices, and they might as well beat Samsung and Google

During its Cloud Next event, Google announced that both OnePlus and OPPO phones will get Gemini-powered features. The host of features coming to these devices would include summaries, audio recorder summaries, an AI toolbox, and more. The brands also talked about how you will be able to leverage the power of AI to generate content for social media, which does seem like a pretty solid feature for those who are looking to use AI for those purposes.

In addition to that, both OPPO and OnePlus have also talked about how their devices will be getting Gemini Ultra, which happens to be the most powerful AI model the company has. The companies went as far as saying that they "aim to be the first to launch features based on the Gemini Ultra platform on smartphones later this year.” Now, the reason why this is a big thing is that every other device in the market is currently running Google's less powerful Gemini Nano model, and it is really interesting to see how these Chinese brands are going to get Gemini Ultra running on their devices.

Now, there is nothing that you should know: Gemini Nano, which runs on other devices, is capable of running on-device, which allows these devices to leverage AI features without having the need of an internet connection. Gemini Ultra, on the other hand, is something that runs off Google servers, which means that these OnePlus and OPPO devices will need to have an active internet connection for these features to work.

Another thing that both OnePlus and OPPO are looking forward to is that both companies appear to have some promising goals for the future of AI-generated content, and this is what the companies had to say,

For the next three to five years, OPPO and OnePlus plan to launch more than one hundred AIGC experiences and will continue to prioritize their users’ needs and ensure their products are effortlessly intuitive.

Honestly, I am really glad that both companies have some really robust plans, but it would be really interesting to see how this whole thing pans out in the future. I am looking forward to seeing what OnePlus and OPPO have in mind.
