🎤 In case you missed it, the hip-hop world just witnessed one of the most legendary rap beefs since Notorious B.I.G. vs. Tupac, with Kendrick Lamar and Drake throwing it down on the mic this time! Personally, we’re team Kendrick, but we won't ask you to pick sides. 😉 Speaking of rivalries, did you know the literary world also has its fair share of infamous feuds? 🤯 📖 🕯 Aldous Huxley and George Orwell had a legendary rivalry over their dystopian visions. Orwell suggested that Brave New World borrowed heavily from We by Yevgeny Zamyatin. By today’s standards, it’s hardly a mic-drop, but back then it was like calling out a rapper for using a ghostwriter. Huxley denied this, saying he had not read We before writing his book. 👀 In response, after the publication of 1984, Huxley wrote to Orwell praising his work but argued that his own dystopian vision in Brave New World was more likely to occur. The feud never officially ended, but we will settle this one today. Pick your winner below! 🥊 💬 Which dystopian future is more compelling? Do you know any other famous literary feuds? #LiteraryFeuds #1984vsBraveNewWorld #DystopianFiction #DystopianNovel #FictionFacts #Writer #WriterFunFact #AuthorFacts #KendrickvDrake

If you picked "getting projects you love," you're not alone! Caerus Kourt, one of our talented freelance designers, felt the same way. They shared some tips to break free from taking just any project that comes your way in one of our blog posts. Here’s the cliffnotes📝: ✅ Build the foundation: Identify your ideal target audience and preferences. Then, find the right platform to let your potential clients know about you. For Caerus, that’s Reedsy. 👀 See what authors see: Explore the marketplace the way an author does to see what their journey on the site looks like and make your profile appealing to your desired clients. 💡 Pro tip: Use a tagline to specify who you want to work with and your specialization. This is not a place to be vague or clever (unless you have a lot of faith in your copywriting skills). 💼 Client focus: Highlight what you can do for the client and what they can expect to receive if they hire you in your profile. 💫 Consistency is key: Keep the rest of your profile content clear and consistent. If it doesn’t help you whittle down your potential pool of people and excite your perfect clients, then don’t include it. 🔖 Reinforce in offers: Use templated responses that align with your profile's theme. Your offer should reinforce your specialties and go into more detail about how you’ll help them achieve what you promised in your profile overview. 👉 Read more in-depth about Collen’s experience and how she executes these tips with examples! - https://lnkd.in/gxk8JRDe 👉 Want to hire Caerus for your next book project? - https://lnkd.in/gPjNAENF 👬 Want to join Caerus and our incredible roster of publishing professionals on Reedsy? 🐉 As House of the Dragon reignites our screens and we eagerly await Rhaenyra's reign (yes, we are Team Black... for now 😉), here's a fun anecdote about George R.R. Martin! George once shared that editors are the "writer's natural enemy" but also essential to temper their ego. According to him, there are only three things writers talk about when left to their own devices. What do you think they are? 💬 👇 Check the comments for the answer and let us know what you think about this take! You can check out George R.R. Martin’s full speech here: https://lnkd.in/gakm54dm #houseofthedragon #GeorgeRRMartin #FunFacts #writer #editor
