The Curva Sud of Atalanta’s Gewiss Stadium will open to the public for the club’s first Serie A match of the season against Fiorentina in September, following major renovation works that will increase the ground’s total capacity.

The Curva Sud section of Atalanta’s stadium was closed for the latter stages of the 2023-24 campaign in order to complete the final stages of a modernisation of the stadium. The Curva Nord at the opposite end of the ground had undergone similar works in 2019, while the stands on either touchline were also fixed up the following year.

Gian Piero Gasperini and his team had been playing in front of a reduced capacity crowd of around 16,000 during the Curva Sud works, but the stadium’s total capacity is expected to increase from 21,700 to 25,000 once everything has been completed.
