Creating a new workspace

Thanks for giving P2 a try! Setting up a new P2 workspace is a very simple and fast process. Just follow these steps.

Step 1: Entering a name and url

First, go to the Create a workspace page. There you’ll find a form with two fields:

Your team or project’s name

This is the perfect opportunity to decide a name for your P2 workspace. We recommend something short and distinctive that allows other people to identify your workspace easily.

The name of your team, your company, your family, or a project you’re working on are usually good names to start with.

Don’t worry if you’re not completely sure of the perfect name at this point — you’ll be able to change it as many times as you want later.

Your site’s address

The second field defines the internet address (URL) that you’ll use to access your workspace. By default, P2s use subdomains of wordpress.com (for example, p2help.wordpress.com).

If you enter an address that already exists, you’ll get an error message after clicking Continue and a few available suggestions will be shown. You can just click an alternative you like, or try a completely different url altogether.

Important: This URL can’t be changed later, so make sure that you choose one that you and your team feel comfortable with. Try to avoid very long addresses, or hard to remember ones.

Step 2: Your user

The next step varies:

  • If you have a WordPress.com account and you’re logged in, you’ll skip this step and go directly to the third one. You’re almost done!
  • If you aren’t logged in, you I’ll see a screen with two buttons, like this:

Now, if you have a WordPress.com account, you can log in. This is a very easy step: click on the first button and just follow the instructions.

If you don’t have an account, you can create a new one clicking on the appropriate button. In the following screen you’ll have to enter your email address, choose a username and choose a password.

You can also go back to the first step if you’d like to change any of the details.

Step 3: Done!

Once you’ve logged in to your WordPress.com account, your workspace will be created. It’ll also create your first P2 automatiaclly, using an address derived from the workspace’s one. It takes a few seconds, and once it’s done you’ll be taken to the homepage of your brand new P2. That’s all!
