That said, you will certainly not get 60 fps in Genshin Impact with it.

This phone heats like crazy just when watching a 1080p video on youtube... Yes, it delivers good performaces, but that's about it. Helio g90t, the hottest processor of 2020. Thankfully, now I have Galaxy A34 and it never heats up. It is a fair successor to Redmi Note 8 Pro - also a big phone (with bigger battery 5000mAh > 4500mAh) with teardrop notch and better software and support. Faster chanrging 25W > 18W. Android 13, now Android 14 up to Android 17. Redmi stopped at Android 11. Also redmi is overpriced now for no quality. Yes, samsug is overprise too but at least you get actuallly quality phone.

love this phone... 4 years almost 5... working fine. changed the charging port 3 times.. charger 3 times. now battery a little exhausted but still performing well. looking at new redmis that can outperform this note 8 pro. 13 seems interesting but might as well wait for 14. play COD Mobile with average performance. hope that this phone can hold as long as possible even when i get newer version phone.

I purchased it in December 2019, and I am still using it regularly. The device has been reliable and has not encountered any software issues so far. Its performance remains consistent, and it continues to meet my needs effectively. I'm pleased with its durability and ongoing functionality.

It's better to get something with non-Helio processor. If you're looking at low price range then either Snapdragon 680, 695, 4 gen 2 or any Mediatek Dimensity is way better thermally

I will continue to use it for phone calls and will buy a Poco C65 And save my data from the old anything else I do with my tablet and back up a memory stick if everything goes downhill😏

They said that Li-Ion is has longer life span (more charge cycles), while Li-Po has higher density at the cost of shorter life-span. I even have a good evidence of that. For comparison, my old Samsung Galaxy J5 is almost 7 years and the battery still goes strong for 3000mAh even though it likely has over 1000 charge cycles. Obviously, not comparing it to 4500mAh, but still. There is no sign of battery bulging at all and I always just slow charged it through night. But, I still don't use it actively. I like the size compared to nowadays modern phones, but it's not worth it to daily drive an outdated android version.

Overall, Redmi Note 8 Pro was good for it's time. The biggest caveat this phone had though is that Helio G90T, while a decent processor after a few years it started to overheat like trash. 45 degrees while watching a youtube video in app, the same in browser. Just unacceptable. Best ones in the budget range right now are Redmi Note 12 Pro (if you want headphone jack) and Samsung Galaxy A34 (if you want SD card slot). Both of these phones have Dimensity 1080 which outperforms Helio G90T with ease in terms of performance and efficiency. Dimensity 1080 never overheats when not needed and when doing demanding task it goes to 37.5 degrees on note 12 pro and 41 degrees max on galaxy a34 and is still comfortable to hold. Poco X6 and Redmi Note 13 Pro are also good with the newest SD 7 gen 2! Poco X6 Pro though is just top notch, worth getting, though out of the mentioned price range, but still relatively close if you want a phone that will last you longer.

Super phone in it's time. I used it very roughly for long time without cover and it still not got any scratches.
