Weekly poll results: the OnePlus Ace 3 looks promising, but needs good reviews to succeed
The results from last week’s poll look promising, but the OnePlus Ace 3 needs to impress people in order to succeed – glowing reviews are vital as too many people are on the fence.
The Ace 3 didn’t get out of it unscathed, some just don’t want a phone this large – the 6.78” display is working against the Ace 3, especially since it’s curved. That wasn’t the only issue either, many were unhappy with the basic 8MP ultra wide camera – the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has an advanced ISP, but a low resolution sensor doesn’t give it much to work with.
The Ace 3 will also need to stand out from other OnePlus devices – like the older Ace 2 and Ace 2 Pro, the Nord 3 and other models. Of course, we don’t know the global pricing just yet, but that will be revealed on January 23 – the phone (or a nearly identical phone) will launch as the OnePlus 12R. Apparently, in India it will be sold exclusively through Amazon.
With a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a large LTPO display and a large 5,500mAh battery, this has the potential to become a sleeper hit for those looking for a gaming phone but don’t necessarily like gaming phone aesthetics. And OnePlus is not one to skimp on cooling.
The Ace 3 will receive 3 OS updates (it launched with Android 14, so this means it should get v17) and four years of security patches – that SD 8 Gen 2 can certainly last into 2028 without feeling old and slow.
Unless it gets hit with poor reviews, the OnePlus Ace 3/12R should become a popular mid-ranger – the 11R sold quite well (discounts from Amazon helped).

Or just practicality ? I'm tall, have large hands and yet, using S23 Ultra as my daily driver sometimes is a hassle due to it's size. I wish that I could have all the S23U feature in a S23 body size, and since I'm asking, with no pun...
