Raghuvarv, 8 hours agoPoco seems tempting at first, but their build quality sucks... moreMy previous Samsung phone was the A8 (2018). It had flagship-grade build quality with metal frame and glass back, IP67 water resistance, compact size, and NFC functionality which was rare for a midrange phone back in 2018.

However, it only had 32GB of internal memory (with only about 14GB being usable), was prone to overheating, and became extremely laggy after just a year of use. For a €330 phone, these problems were hard to justify, especially the small storage.

I've heard a lot of good things with the A35 except for the thick bezels, which I couldn't care less about. So hopefully this time they won't disappoint.

It seems this model has GG Victus+ on both sides: "Gorilla® Glass Victus®+ on the front and back adds even more protection for any adventure that comes your way."

DiggaNick, 11 hours agoNo Snapdragon no buy! Next please!Well, it's like that even in the US! The A35 comes with Exynos, globally. It is what it is. Exynos is here to stay, apparently.

Anonymous, 10 hours agoThanks! I guess I'll go with the A35 for the card slot... morePoco seems tempting at first, but their build quality sucks in the long run. Vivo V30 is much better when it comes to build quality (though not as good as Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus) and should have far better signal reception and thermals than both the Xiaomis and the Samsungs in the same price bracket. Battery life is also admirable. But the Vivo OS bloat, and taking the device in for repairs are all big headaches.

Raghuvarv, 02 Jul 2024Redmi Note 13 Pro for: 1. More natural looking and higher ... moreThanks! I guess I'll go with the A35 for the card slot, better battery life, better UI, and longer software updates. For €250, I think it's one of the better all-rounder options at this price point.

It's a good thing Samsung phones drop in price pretty quick here, otherwise it would've been €313, which in my opinion isn't worth the money when the Poco X6 Pro and Vivo V30 exist.

No Snapdragon no buy! Next please!

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2024This or Redmi Note 13 Pro? Several retailers in my country ... moreRedmi Note 13 Pro for:
                  1. More natural looking and higher quality display with 700 Hz PWM.
                  2. Better rear camera set-up.
                  3. Faster 67 Watt charging.
                  4. Stronger mobile signal reception due to the Qualcomm wireless modem. This should be a priority for you if you live in a rural area or some other place with less-than-decent tower coverage.
                  5. More Bluetooth codecs.
                  6. You get very good stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack.

                  Galaxy A35 for:
                  1. More vivid display that is also somehow easier on the eyes despite only 250 Hz PWM.
                  2. Better selfie camera.
                  3. Better battery life than the Redmi Note 13 Pro; also runs cooler.
                  4. Wi-Fi 6 instead of 5 as in the Redmi; overall much faster data throughputs and maintains wi-fi connection out to a much greater distance.
                  5. Less Bluetooth codecs, but maintains Bluetooth connection at a greater range.
                  6. You get a memory card slot (albeit a hybrid one) for up to 1 TB cards.
                  7. One UI is just far better and more practical than Hyper OS. You also get 4-5 years of updates and patches.
                  8. Stronger build quality and IP67. And the device itself will probably last twice as many years as the Redmi. And I'm not even exaggerating.

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2024This or Redmi Note 13 Pro? Several retailers in my country ... moreThe Redmi Note 13 Pro has much worse battery life than the Galaxy A35 (my wife owns one and I can attest to this). You also have to deal with Xiaomi's horrible UI and bloatware. But don't worry about Chinese Spyware and such: independent investigations in Australia proved it to be completely bs. If anything, you should be more worried about the CIA! The phone also gets quite warm. However, you do get much faster 67 Watt charging, a better rear camera, a slightly better display (feels more natural and has 700 Hz PWM). The day to day performance is comparable. You also get a proper and far better stereo speaker set-up with a 3.5 mm jack. And because it is a Qualcomm modem, the 4G/5G signal reception is better.

However, with the A35 as well you get some advantages: Superior build quality with IP67 rating, and the phone will last much longer. You'll also get 4-5 years of updates and patches. The A35 also runs cooler in day to day operations and gaming. It matches the Redmi in heating only while charging. The battery life of the A35 is better. It comes with wi-fi 6 vs 5 on the Redmi, and the wi-fi range is absolutely good (holds a usable wi-fi signal out to greater distances from router). You don't get a 3.5mm jack, but you do get a hybrid slot wherd you can chuck a 1 TB memory card. Audio output from the speakers feels less harsh, even if the Redmi's is probably overall better. The A35 has a better selfie camera. The Exynos 1380 isn't as good as the Redmi's Qualcomm on signal reception in remote areas, but it is more than good enough in areas with good or even just decent coverage.

                        no jack, no party

Mickey, 01 Jul 2024What do you think of M35 it would be the next bwat seller ... moreUh... What?

A35 already has a memory card slot (hybrid). M35 has the same. And the M35 does not come with a headphone jack.

The main differences are a plastic back, no IP rating or at least a much lower one, and slightly bigger battery. Besides a vastly different flex antennae set-up, that is pretty much it.

Galaxy A35 just received a vividness slider! (Settings -> Display -> Screen mode -> Advanced Settings)

It helps to make colors feel less dull, at the cost of less color accuracy & over-saturation.

It's about as close as you can get to flagship-level cameras, though prices vary depending on where you live; it could either be cheaper or more expensive than the Galaxy A35.

The Pixel's main drawback however, is its limited storage and lack of microSD slot. Battery life is also not great from what I heard.

YourLocalPhoneCritic, 27 Jun 2024The only downsides: ➖ lack of 1080/60fps on Selfie or Ultr... moreYeah, the A35 is shaping up to be a best-seller. In fact, it is their most popular A-series phone where I live. Some of the biggest improvements they made over last year's models include an updated antenna design (the A35 has better signal reception compared to the A54) and really good battery life (about as good as the A34).

Even I'm tempted to get one, actually. Just waiting for some releases in July to make a final call.

➖ lack of 1080/60fps on Selfie or UltraWide lens, they're limited to 4K-1080/30fps (1080/60fps still works on the main 50MP lens)
➖ Lack of HDR in third party apps like Netflix (HDR still works on YouTube)
➖ Lack of a linear x-axis vibration motor capable of Haptic Feedback (It still has a decent rumble motor)
➖ Other negligible stuff like 20 minute slower charging, eSim regions, slightly different exterior around the cameras, slightly quieter speakers (But those are little nitpicks)

Once you put a case on it, they're the same exact phone. You can't tell the difference between A55 & A35. (If you want some of the missing features you can still get last year's A54 for the same price as A35 except it has a smaller screen, bigger bezels & 1 less year of updates)

I say go for the A35, it's a really good deal & there aren't many differences. 👍💯 In fact, Samsung didn't ship A55 to the US for the first time ever. Americans can only choose from A35 or S23 FE this year. This means Samsung made sure it's a really good phone. (It will be without a doubt Samsung's best seller in 2024, especially in that pink colorway)

I've been studying the DxOMark scores - A34 got a Camera score of 92, while A35 got 104. I don't know how accurate the scores are, but it's a decent uplift.
Samsung doesn't really want you to buy the cheaper phone (doh), so they gimp them with inferior image processing algorythms. Have you noticed that when you change between lens on A series phones, there's a blur happening on screen? Well, you don't get that on S series.
Camera app looks the same but works differently. And I guess that's fine. You do pay a lot less for A series phones. The good part is that competition is slowly pulling ahead, thus forcing Samsung to offer more features / better performance on midrange devices.
