I hope they bring back the Pro Series w/ the 1" sensors

1/2.3" is definitely a welcome upgrade, especially when it still retains the 3.5x-7x variable zoom periscope camera. It'd be hilarious to see Sony do this upgrade while Samsung still stuck with the same 1/3.5" telephoto camera sensor for next year's S25 Ultra.

Sometimes I wonder what will happen if Hasselblad × Kodak × Samsung × Leica × Sharp × Sony Zeiss T* happens together in one phone with all features of individual companies coming together. Might be called " Wonder Phone " Might be iPhone will need to up their game if this happens :)) 👀👀

V3, 18 Jun 2024So no foldable? There's rumors about the Sony Xperia 1 VIII.

I would like Sony to use a bigger main camera sensor on their next flagship. Upgrade that, and maybe the UW camera, and keep the current zoom system, or upgrade that as well to a 48 MP resolution( but I think this would hike the price a bit too much).

                    So no foldable?

I really hope this is true, as they have only been updating one camera at a time since the Xperia 1 IV; all 3 cameras should be 48mp which can pixel bin down to 12mp; the front camera all needs updating to have AF.

The battery life is excellent though on the Xperia 1VI

My old Xperia XZ Premium has AF on their front camera for goodness sake!!

The periscope placing MAKES sense, given the fact that with a 1/2.3" sensor, you will need a 12-35mm vario lens to achieve a potential 70-200mm solution.

Chinese brands have a huge presence here in India. I'm not a fan of them, never used them, and don't want to either. But they are doing great in terms of sales. Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Xiaomi (along with other newer subsidiaries) are all doing good.

There's a large chunk of the population that needs a cheap phone as their tech needs don't go beyond social media consumption and they don't want to spend too much on a phone. In the low and mid range, Samsung and all Chinese brands are the same generic phones, with slight difference in the upper midrange area where Samsung's A series is slightly more reliable. Samsung's F and M series are ultimate pieces of crap, but there's a group of people with lower budgets who go for these or other cheaper Chinese models. Talking about quality in this range is silly.

Those who need more features and have the money to burn, they go for everything from Apple to Galaxy S and Z models, and also Chinese flagships that cost the same as Apple and Samsung. There must be some quality to them, which is why people buy their flagships. Sure, the overall quality might be better, if you will. Update cycles are obviously longer with Apple and Samsung, but frankly who the heck would use a Samsung (or any phone) for seven years?! In the flagship territory, Chinese brands are doing quite good, which makes me think that their quality can't be that bad!

USA is another story in itself. I don't even want to get into that discussion. Bans and sanctions are their ways, and sadly a lot of their population is hopeless and is happy with an Apple or a Samsung! All good if it works for them :)

I wonder how people have the time and energy to do this. I'm happier reading posts about the brands and products that I like or that I'm interested in. I don't care about the Chinese brands and Samsung to a great extent, so I don't bother going over to their posts just to bash their lovers! To each his own, I guess! 😄
