Lumia 950/950 XL start getting 'double tap to wake' feature

02 July, 2016
This comes nearly a couple of months after Microsoft dropped hints that the devices could get the feature.

Andy, 07 Jul 2016If you put a password on your lockscreen that cannot happen ! Doesn't that render double tap a waste of time? better left with unlock button, it will be less time consuming, assuming that 2x tap is a time efficient by design

Reading all these comments on this article and many others made me realize that people impose their standards to the rest, assuming their product is perfect for everyone. For example the question at hand here is this double tap feature:
-Yes, it could have easily been added from the start, but all was needed to bring this feature is assertive communication with the manufacturer. And let's be honest, how hard was your everyday life impacted by the lack of this feature. Did you loose money because of it, was your life at risk? I think not.
-Some people recommend not to buy MS products because of X, Y, Z reasons. And call them overpriced for no reason. Actually, there are phone that meet the needs of many and there are those who don't. For example, there are people that don't need some useless features like fingerprint sensor or double tap or whatever because these are irrelevant in everyday use for them. Whats wrong with wanting a phone to talk/text and occasional surfing + some photos?
From experience i can say that Lumias are tough as nails and most likely will last for more than 2 years. If you are spending 700 $ every year for a new phone that does the same thing as the previous one but 10% better some will say "you're doing in wrong".
So in conclusion, if you want something, ask for it :P and never forget that what you want isn't always what you need nor what you get, look for whats best for you.
I believe that if you are in the market for a simple phone works as it should for a long time and you don't want to replace it every year, Lumia phones might be the thing for you if you're not on a looooow budget.

Double tap is all good a well until you realize that the phone unlocked itself in your pocket and opened a ton of application and made a random call to someone!!!

Every windows 8 phone had this feature previously. Windows store had an app called gestures, and installing that app had much more gestures in built. But sadly, M$, decided to ditch it in favor of a stable OS, windows 10(sarcastic).
