Google Chat will let you chat with Slack and Microsoft Teams users

If you are a paying Google Workspace user, we have some good news for you. Google is opening up its Chat app to other platforms, such as Slack and Microsoft Teams. The new integration allows you to message users on Slack and Teams without having to switch between apps.

There's a catch, though. The feature is available only to paying subscribers and the functionality itself isn't exactly new. It's just out of beta now. Only a handful of users had access to the said feature, but it's now available to all paying users.

Unfortunately, it requires a bit of setup. You have to download and set up another app called Mio, which acts as a bridge between Google Chats and Slack/Teams. Mio also requires you to buy an additional license. The good news is that Mio supports all features, such as tagging, sending files, GIFs, etc. and will work across different messaging apps. Additionally, Mio makes sure Google Workspace and Microsoft Office 365 play nice together.

It's not "Microsoft Office 365", it's just "Microsoft 365"! 365 is the productivity suite of Microsoft, with Office being just a small part of it, besides Teams, Outlook, Copilot etc.

Your workplace will very likely also have to pay for at least an Office 365 F1 license. Money for everybody. πŸ’΅πŸ’΅πŸ’°πŸ’°
