The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Zeekr is set to launch its sixth model later this year, a mid-size SUV codenamed CX1E. While the official name is still under wraps (rumors suggest it might be called the Zeekr Ark), spy shots reveal a promising contender in the electric SUV market.

The CX1E shares its DNA with the Zeekr 007 sedan, borrowing its platform, drivetrain, and design language. The SUV features slender LED daytime running lights and a light cluster design likely similar to the 007, potentially including the impressive 90-inch smart light strip capable of communicating with other road users.

Interior shots showcase a minimalist cabin with a large floating center screen and what appears to be an LCD instrument cluster. The multi-function steering wheel resembles the one found in the new Zeekr 001. While the official specifications are yet to be revealed, we can expect similarities to the Zeekr 007, which boasts a 15.05-inch 2.5K OLED infotainment unit, a curved LCD instrument panel, and a 35.5-inch head-up display. Powering this tech-savvy interior is likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.

The CX1E is built on Geely's SEA (Sustainable Electric Architecture) platform and is expected to leverage 800V architecture and silicon carbide motors, mirroring the 007. The 007 offers rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options, with the RWD variant boasting a 310 kW motor and the AWD sporting an additional 165 kW motor at the front.

Battery choices are also anticipated to align with the Zeekr 007, offering Geely's self-developed Golden battery or CATL's Qilin battery. Both promise impressive charging speeds and range, with the Qilin battery expected to deliver a range exceeding 435 miles; although that's the optimistic number achieved on the CLTC cycle, the WLTP number will be significantly lower.

Zeekr is expected to unveil the CX1E before the year's end, potentially at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November. The CX1E will be positioned to compete with popular electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E. While the official pricing is still unknown, estimates suggest a range of RMB 240,000 to RMB 350,000 (approximately $33,000 to $48,200).
