In today’s grand product launch event, Honor introduced its first vertical foldable smartphone in its homeland: the Honor Magic V Flip, a fusion of cutting-edge screen technology and fashion.
Design-wise, it features a quad-curved iso-depth design and is available in three color schemes: Camellia White, Iris Black, and Champagne Pink. There is also a limited edition model in collaboration with Professor Jimmy Choo. The phone has a folded thickness of 14.89mm, an unfolded thickness of 7.15mm, and weighs only 193g.
One of the standout features of the Magic V Flip is its secondary cover display, a 4.0-inch OLED (the largest in the industry) with a 2.87mm external display bezel. It boasts an 85% external screen share ratio, a resolution of 1200 x 1092, global peak brightness of 1600 nits, local excitation brightness of 2500 nits, and full-area low-light brightness. It also supports full-area low-power LTPO (0.1-120Hz), 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, Dolby Vision, and more.
The primary foldable display is a 6.8-inch OLED with a resolution of 2520 x 1080, global peak brightness of 1500 nits, local excitation brightness of 3000 nits, LTPO (1-120Hz), and 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. It supports 92% of the BT.2020 color gamut coverage and can display 1.07 billion colors.
The camera system includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX816 (1/2.93 inches) on the front, and a rear dual camera setup with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 primary camera (1/1.56 inches, OIS) and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle (2.5cm macro, 112°) camera.
Despite its compact size, it houses a 4800mAh Qinghai Lake battery, equipped with Honor’s self-developed RF enhancement chip C1+, and supports 66W fast charging, capable of charging to 45% in 15 minutes and fully charging in 42 minutes. Additional features include side fingerprint identification, dual speakers, three microphones, NFC support, a linear motor, the pre-installed MagicOS 8.0 system, and built-in Google Mobile Services (GMS).
At the end of the event, Honor unveiled an easter egg: the Honor Magic V Flip Professor Jimmy Choo Limited Edition. This special edition, created in collaboration with international fashion designer Jimmy Choo, is aimed at women and blends technology with high fashion.
The back cover of the Honor Magic V Flip Limited Edition features a glossy turquoise design adorned with star spots, resembling a piece of art encrusted with green diamonds.
