XREAL Beam Pro Debuts: Merging AR Technology with Smartphone Design

At today’s XREAL Spatial Computing New Product Launch, the XREAL Beam Pro Spatial Computing Terminal was officially unveiled. Promoted as an “AR spatial computing terminal akin to a phone,” the device aims to revolutionize consumer-grade AR technology.

The XREAL Beam Pro’s design is reminiscent of a smartphone, although it cannot make calls. It features a touchscreen, cameras, and other essential components. This terminal projects 2D applications into 3D space, creating a comprehensive AR spatial computing system when paired with XREAL AR glasses.

Key features of the Beam Pro include dual USB-C ports—one for connecting to AR glasses and another for power. It boasts dual rear cameras capable of capturing spatial videos, equipped with Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensors that provide a 50-megapixel resolution and F/2.2 aperture. These cameras support nanosecond-level and pixel-level synchronization, ensuring superior spatial video quality.

To enhance the spatial stereoscopic effect, the main camera sensors are spaced 50mm apart, simulating the distance between human eyes. This configuration, along with dual F/2.2 apertures, improves depth perception and ensures a more comfortable viewing experience.

The Beam Pro incorporates XREAL’s core electronic image stabilization (EIS) technology, with optimized algorithms for 3D shooting tailored to user habits. These enhancements significantly improve spatial imaging scenarios when used with XREAL’s Air glasses platform.

On the software front, the Beam Pro operates on nebulaOS, which is based on Android 14 and supports the installation of Android APKs. Other notable specifications include a 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD screen, a 4nm Snapdragon octa-core spatial computing processor, a 4300mAh battery with 27W fast charging, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and support for up to 1TB of expandable storage.

The XREAL Beam Pro is priced at 1299 yuan for the 6GB + 128GB Wi-Fi version and 1599 yuan for the 8GB + 256GB Wi-Fi version. Reservations begin today, with sales starting at 20:00 on May 31. The 5G version, starting at 1999 yuan, will be available in August. Additionally, an enterprise version with more customized features is priced at 2999 yuan.

At the same event, XREAL also introduced the Xreal Air 2 Ultra AR glasses, priced at 3999 yuan and available in early July. These glasses, which were first showcased at CES 2024 with a global price of $699, offer advanced features compared to the previous Xreal Air 2.

The Air 2 Ultra glasses provide full 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DOF) positional tracking and maintain Xreal’s signature sunglasses design. They enable users to watch TV, play flat games on a projection screen, and run immersive AR applications. Although slightly heavier at 80 grams compared to the Air 2’s 72 grams, they connect to various computing devices, including macOS and Windows computers, Samsung Android phones, and the iPhone 15. They support the Nebula AR environment on Android, macOS, and Windows.

A notable feature of the Air 2 Ultra glasses is their support for the new spatial video format of the iPhone 15 Pro, allowing users to shoot spatial videos with their iPhones and view them on the Air 2 Ultra without needing the expensive Apple Vision Pro.
