ARM Unveils Cortex-X925 CPU and Immortalis G925 GPU With Big Improvement

This year’s chipsets and smartphones are focused on AI capabilities. At the core of this trend, ARM recently unveiled its latest CPU design, emphasizing AI acceleration within the chipset. During the press release, ARM highlighted the release of the Cortex-X925 CPU and Immortalis G925 GPU, successors to the Cortex-X4 and Immortalis G720, respectively.

Officials claim a 36% improvement in Geekbench single-core performance over the previous generation X4. Additionally, the AI workload performance has improved by 41% due to the 3MB private L2 cache.

The ARM also introduces a new generation of Cortex-A cores, namely the Cortex-A725 and Cortex-A520. ARM claims that the Cortex-A725 is 35% more efficient than the previous generation A720, and the Cortex-A520 is 15% more energy efficient.

On the GPU side, ARM asserts that the Immortalis G925 graphics processor is the “most powerful and efficient graphics processor” to date. Compared to the previous generation G720, the G925 offers a 37% increase in graphics application speed, a 52% improvement in ray tracing performance for complex objects, a 34% boost in AI and ML workloads, and a 30% reduction in power consumption.

In terms of end products, only MediaTek will use this CPU design this year, as Qualcomm is shifting to in-house developed cores. It has been confirmed that the first models equipped with the Dimensity 9400 processor will include the Vivo X200 series and the OPPO Find X8 series.
