MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Shows More Promising Progress Than Ever Before

MediaTek and Qualcomm are two major brands competing in the Android flagship smartphone segment with their top-end chipsets. However, Qualcomm consistently wins this competition, building an undeniable reputation that MediaTek has struggled to surpass. A clear example is that all brands use Qualcomm chipsets in their highest-end smartphones, with none daring to opt for MediaTek, even if it offers better performance.

This competition is undoubtedly set to continue this year, with both brands launching new chipsets: the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and the Dimensity 9400. This time, the performance war will be fiercer than ever before.

Recently, Digital Chat Station shared progress on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400. According to the report, MediaTek has been deeply involved in the architectural design of Armv9’s new generation of IP Blackhawk (codename for Cortex-X5). The new architectural enhancements are considerable.

Sources reveal that MediaTek aims to stabilize performance and energy efficiency. First, they plan to utilize TSMC’s next-generation 3nm technology to continue optimizing power consumption based on the previous generation. Then, they will use Blackhawk to improve performance and CPU stack cache.

The design’s performance and energy efficiency have been greatly improved, and significant advancements are anticipated. The “real chapter” is expected to be seen in October, with power consumption performance showing promising results after verification.
