The new Xperia 1 VI boasts a primary camera with a 24mm, 48-megapixel, 1/1.35-inch sensor. This camera, equipped with the Exmor T for mobile sensor, offers exceptional low-light performance and high-speed autofocus, enhanced by AI technology for body pose recognition.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Camera Specifications

Sony has significantly upgraded its 12MP periscope telephoto camera. The 1/3.5 Exmor RS sensor (F2.3 at 85mm to F3.5 at 170mm) provides an ultra-fine telephoto shooting experience with up to 7.1x zoom. It supports a telephoto range of 85mm-170mm and telephoto macro photography, with a maximum magnification of 2x and a closest focusing distance of 4cm.

The third camera on the Xperia 1 VI is a 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens with a 1/2.5″ Exmor RS for mobile sensor, offering a 123° field of view, F2.2 aperture, and 1.4 μm pixel size. The front camera is a 12-megapixel, 1/2.9″ Exmor RS for mobile sensor with a 1.22 μm pixel pitch, F2.0 aperture, 24mm focal length, and an 83° field of view.

A notable change from the previous generation is the shift from a 4K resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio display to the industry-standard 1080p resolution with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The 6.5-inch OLED display features 1300 nits brightness, 1-120Hz LTPO technology, and more.

Display

In terms of performance, the Xperia 1 VI is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM. This iteration includes a heat-averaging plate to significantly improve cooling performance, as well as a new FPS optimizer that dynamically adjusts CPU usage and frame rate according to the gaming environment.

Other features include a 5000mAh battery with 30W wired charging, allowing for a 50% charge in 30 minutes. The audio experience has been enhanced with front-facing stereo speakers and a Premium Audio Circuit for better sound quality. The 3.5mm headphone jack is still present, much to the praise of users.

Colors

The Sony Xperia 1 VI will be available in selected markets in Khaki Green, Platinum Silver, and Black. It measures 162 × 74 × 8.2mm and weighs 192g. The starting price is €1,400 or £1,300, and it will go on sale in early June.
