Open Roles: - Brand Strategy Design Intern - Website Design Intern Both interns will have to work in collaboration. I am estimating a 4-6 week engagement. But, this can vary based on the actual work happening, once you are here. New tech, and the relevance of Software Archeology The term 'Archeology' is usually associated with things that no longer 'function', and is good to learn the ways of the past. Here is Wikipedia's take on the term: https://lnkd.in/dBXECz9n But, in Software, this is the art of unraveling the beauty hidden in code, because the original authors are no longer around to support or drive the philosophical evolution of a product. Understanding old systems, and other people's work is not easy. It needs skills spanning debugging, persective, history, and knowledge of system design at the time of the original design. A job for the people who have been around for a while. Software Archeologists will help modernise your product, or just handle the everyday maintenance without looking to incorporate new tech, just because its the current way of doing things. They hate unnecessary engineering, and are minimalist in nature. Sounds familiar, and were looking for someone to take over ? Reach out.

Local LLMs and coding in VSCode I have been experimenting with a lot of code assistants in the past few months. I really liked Cody ( from SourceGraph ), because it had fairly generous free limits. But, given the amount of code I write, I have been hitting the limits fairly early in the month. Also, given that I work with a lot of private projects, and technology explorations, getting a Copilot subscription was on my list. This is when I discovered Ollama and the ability to run model locally on my laptop. Its taken me a while to get the setup right, but with the Continue extension and the Ollama Mac Desktop app, I have been able to get Mistral working on my devcontainers in VS Code. It has been 3 hours now, but I am already loving the performance, and the accuracy of the completions. They are at par, if not better, than Cody. Amazing what the new generation of processors, that ship with GPUs, can do for the next generation of developers.
