Leggett & Platt Office Components recalls certain Office Chairs Due to Fall Hazard

On May 24, 2017, Leggett & Platt Office Components announced a recall involving Office Chairs sold with the LP01 slider mechanism. The slider mechanism allows the user to adjust the seat depth. The sliders were sold on five brands of office chairs: Hon, Hugg, JSI, Sitmatic and Via Seating. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and inspect the seat for looseness or a wobble and contact the firm for a free repair.

Toshiba Expands Recall for Lithium-Ion Battery Packs on certain Toshiba Laptop Computers.

On January 4, 2017, Toshiba expanded its voluntary recall to replace certain Panasonic battery packs installed in 41 models of Toshiba Satellite laptops. Toshiba has expanded the number of battery packs to include those sold between June 2011 and November 2016. Because there is a possibility that the affected battery packs can overheat, they could pose a burn or fire hazard. Toshiba is offering a free replacement for affected battery packs.

Users who previously checked and determined that their battery pack was not affected by the 2016 Recall must now re-check their battery packs.

HP Recalls Certain Notebook Computer Batteries

On 14 June 2016 HP announced a worldwide voluntary recall and replacement program in cooperation with various government regulatory agencies for certain notebook computer batteries that were shipped with specific HP, Compaq, HP ProBook, HP ENVY, Compaq Presario and HP Pavilion Notebook Computers sold worldwide from March 2013 through August 2015 and/or were sold as accessories or spares, or provided as replacements through Support. The affected batteries have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to customers.

Because these batteries pose a fire and burn hazard, it is extremely important for customers to check whether their batteries are affected, and to cease use of affected batteries immediately. Customers may continue to use their notebook computer without the battery installed, by connecting the notebook to external power.

ACCO Quartet Magnetic and Dry Erase Boards (SKU #313-729)

On July 30, 2015 ACCO announced a recall of the Quartet Magnetic and Dry Erase Boards. Sharp metal edges on the back of the boards can become exposed while removing mounted boards, posing a laceration hazard. The dry erase boards sold from approximately January 2005 through approximately December 2013. The Quartet logo is printed on the bottom of the boards.

Certain power cords shipped with HP and Compaq notebook and mini notebook computers, as well as with AC adapters provided with accessories such as docking stations, sold from September 2010 through June 2012 may pose a potential fire and burn hazard to customers. HP customers will receive a replacement AC power cord for each verified, recalled AC power cord at no cost. Note: Not all HP and Compaq notebook and mini notebook PCs were sold with an affected power cord. This recall involves Lenovo battery packs sold with the following ThinkPad notebook computers: the Edge 11, 13 and 14 series, the T410, T420, T510 and W510 series, and the X100e, X120e, X200, X201 and X201s series. The battery packs were also sold separately. The black battery packs measure between 8 to 11 inches long, 1 to 3 inches wide and about 1 inch high. Recalled battery packs have one of the following part numbers starting with the fourth digit in a long series of numbers and letters printed on a white sticker below the bar code on the battery pack: 42T4695, 42T4711, 42T4798, 42T4804, 42T4812, 42T4822, 42T4828, 42T4834, 42T4840 and 42T4890.

Belkin International Inc. Recalls SurgeMaster Surge Protectors Due to Shock Hazard

Name of Product: SurgeMaster Surge Protectors

Importer: Belkin International Inc., of Compton, Calif.
Hazard: The molding of the plastic 360 degree rotating plug, which allows for easy cord movement, can crack or detach from the plug assembly, posing a shock hazard to consumers.
Sold by: Independent distributors nationwide and the internet by www.belkin.com from September 2003 through December 2007 for about $50.
Manufactured in: China

Incidents/Injuries: Belkin has received seven consumer complaints about cracking of the plug molding. No injuries were reported.

Description: This recall involves the SurgeMaster Surge Protector, models F9G930-10, F9G930v10, F9G930-10-W and F9G930-10-SN, all manufactured in 2003. The model number and date of manufacture are located on the underside of the unit. Grey models F9G930-10-GRY and F9G930fc10G-CL are not a part of this recall.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these power strips immediately and contact Belkin for a new replacement unit.
