🌟 ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Latin America: Mexico City Workshop Recap 🛠️ After hosting successful workshops in Miami, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires, the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Latin America cohort gathered in Mexico City 🇲🇽 for an intensive two-day session on 5 and 6 July. This workshop focused on critical topics of Evidence and Hearing. 🌍 The ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy is the most advanced-level training on arbitration offered by ICC. Tailored primarily for senior and upper-mid-level arbitration practitioners aspiring to become arbitrators, this year-long program includes comprehensive coursework and 8 workshops across various cities in each region. The Academy for Latin America is chaired by Cecilia Azar, Stephan Adell and Valeria Galíndez, and features distinguished expert speakers at each workshop. 🤝 A special thank you to Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C. and Galicia Mexico for hosting our Mexico City sessions. The 2nd ICC Mexican Arbitration Day, organised by the ICC International Court of Arbitration and International Chamber of Commerce México on 4 July, gathered over 150 participants and centered on "Efficiency Challenges for Arbitration: Tools to Reduce Time and Costs." The day began with welcome remarks from Claus Von Wobeser, President of ICC Mexico, and Carlos Loperena Ruiz, President of ICC Mexico's Commission on Arbitration and ADR. Panel discussions included: Panel I: Reduction of Time and Costs in Arbitration, featuring insights from Mexican judicial perspectives on arbitration, covering topics from arbitration agreement enforcement to awards enforcement. Panel II: Preliminary Determinations, emphasizing the ICC's commitment to efficiency and quality in arbitration, with practical tips on crafting effective arbitration clauses and leveraging technology. Panel III: The Judicial Perspective on Arbitration, focusing on streamlining arbitration processes through preliminary determinations on jurisdictional objections, defenses, and cost decisions. Panel IV: Expedited Procedures in Arbitration (EPP), addressing simplified procedures to tackle delays and costs, despite challenges related to case complexity. Panel V: Digital Tools for Process Control, exploring AI's role in dispute resolution efficiency, with discussions on regulatory needs for equitable digital tool usage and cybersecurity concerns.
