TipTop, an app for trading in used devices and getting instant cash, today launched a new feature called Shop. With TipTop Shop, users are able to buy new, open box, and refurbished items, while also trading in old devices at the same time.

The feature allows customers to sell items, trade them in, and/or buy new devices in a single transaction. It is a unique option for a trade-in/device selling app, as there is no need for a multi-step process when upgrading to a new device.
Now, with TipTop Shop you can purchase any item and, at the same time, trade in any device from any manufacturer. Cross brand trade-in is an industry first, as other trade-in programs rely on multiple step transactions, gift cards or other complicated arrangements.

Want to trade in your Samsung Galaxy for a new iPad? No problem. An Apple HomePod mini for a solid discount on the new Nintendo Switch? You bet. Trading in your iPhone for a Nothing Phone? We can help with that. And TipTop can do it all in one tap.
TipTop was founded by Bastian Lehmann, the founder and CEO of Postmates, and its marketing VP is former TechCrunch editor-in-chief Matthew Panzarino. The app's trade-in prices are similar to the prices offered by Apple, though it offers more than Apple on some newer devices and less than Apple on older devices.

The app can be downloaded from the App Store for free. [Direct Link]

I'd be very cautious using any 3rd party; remember you get what you pay for and might be stuck with little to no customer service.

My Apple direct trade-in's have always gone well even when package was lost/stolen they took care of things right away.

I will agree with you almost 100%. I did an AppleCare replacement of air pod pros. They send the case in one box and the AirPods in another box. I sent the old case back in the box and the AirPods in the other box. I got an email that the case was received but on the AirPods. I called AppleCare to inquire and was told it happens all the time. The AirPods aren’t serialized. They didn’t have any video of anyone messing with the box, so once it leaves your hands who knows what happens next. When I told the Apple care CS employee that I was going to record the call she immediately hung up. So their plan was that unless I could send the AirPods back I’d be charged the $250 or whatever. I thought that was pretty ridiculous so I ordered single AirPods on eBay for $20 each. Videoed myself closing the box, sealing it and handing it to a Walgreens employee for FedEx. Got an email that they were received and had no issues. Weird, right?

The best thing is to do a trade-in at an Apple store.

If you do it by mail, Apple uses a 3rd party company. I believe it's Phobio. There have been a lot of bad experiences (one example) from lower than stated trade-in values to Phobio outright claiming they received an empty box.

Can confirm, had extremely bad experience which Apple blamed on this third party and seemed powerless to do anything about. I was told by more than one rep that they plan to quit using them. For whatever that hearsay is worth.

Good to know about this. Apple trade in though very convenient offers much lower values for older devices.

Maybe they've improved the system now or depends on specific case circumstances.

When my trade in was lost/stolen in FedEx system (claimed empty box received yet showed correct package weight at time of drop off in FedEx store) Apple Support was able to resolve within 48 hours and issued correct value quote to my payment method. Only took one chat session with agent- they even commented about seeing this happen before.

I agree with other's though the safest way is to go in person to Apple Store.

I too had fedex issues that were resolved right away without problem. It’s the trade in center specifically.
