I would like to ask the experts her for an advice.

I need a new desktop and was thinking about getting a mac mini.
The only problem will be that I have an old HP 30" monitor that I absolutely love and it works perfectly for what I do.

The monitor only has a DVI-d input.

Can I run an HDMI or a USB-c cable to a DVI-d adaptor and everything will be fine?

Thanks

If the HP monitor is old enough to have a DVI-D input port, and has a resolution higher than 1080p, then you get into the realm of all the Dual-Link DVI malarky that besets Mac owners trying to connect modern Macs to old Apple 30" displays, or older Dell 30" monitors.
To get the 2560x1600 resolution a Dual-Link DVI cable is needed, and all the Mac-compatible ones - at the time these monitors were current - were Mini-DisplayPort-to-Dual-Link DVI-D, so to connect a modern Mac you first have to use a USB-C>MiniDP adapter.

Have you been using the monitor with an older Mac?

There will be older threads about these problems within the archives of these forums...

Thanks.
Fantastic information.
MUCH appreciated.

No, I've never used this particular monitor with an old Mac.
I'm currently running an HP Workstation on it.
The monitor is HP LP3065c and it is indeed a 2560x1600.

Thanks again.
