Apple's supply chain is gearing up for the launch of new iPhone and Mac models later this year, according to a preview of an upcoming DigiTimes report.

"Semiconductor backend houses, such as leading OSAT ASE Technology Holdings (ASEH) and test interface specialist CHPT, are expected to see sales growths in the third quarter of 2023, as Apple's supply chain gears up preparations for the upcoming launch of new iPhones and Mac devices, according to industry sources," the preview reads.

Earlier this month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said the first Macs with the M3 chip could launch as early as October, so it would make sense for Apple's supply chain to be gearing up for the devices in the third quarter. Gurman said the first Macs with the M3 chip will likely be the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 24-inch iMac, and the Mac mini and 15-inch MacBook Air should also be updated with the M3 chip eventually.

Apple has yet to announce the M3 chip, which is widely expected to be manufactured with TSMC's 3nm process for significant performance and power efficiency improvements compared to previous M-series chips built on TSMC's 5nm process.

The A17 Bionic chip for the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is also expected to be manufactured with TSMC's 3nm process, and iPad Pro models with the M3 chip and an OLED display are rumored to launch in the first half of 2024.

Revenue growth for semiconductor back end houses in third quarter? Correct me I'm wrong, but that would suggest to me that Macs for October is very optimistic, especially considering that the article just lumps together iPhones and Macs.

How this growth relates to new Macs? Sure Apple uses some of their capacity but certainly not the majority …

I got money burning a hole in my pocket for a new MBA with M3 and 32GB (hopefully) of RAM with a 2TB SSD. Would love to pair it with a new 8K Apple XDR display (maybe?).

Then I hope the 11” iPad Pro with OLED panel gets released, so I can dump money there in a max configuration.

And all ready have my money ready for the Vision Pro… take two please.

And I suppose I will have traveled somewhere to get my new iPhone 15 with a physical SIM card slot.

So why not just throw an Apple Car in the mix?

Well, it sure would be nice.

Yeah, that's what I mean. The info from that DigiTimes preview may not necessarily support what Mark Gurman is predicting.
here is a link to an IDC report that I saw yesterday ... OSAT growth projected for 2024

I’m ready to purchase a Mac for the first time. The question is will it be an M2 Mac mini (with needed peripherals) or an M3 iMac?

I’d like to keep the cost below $2000.

lol doubt 32gb would ever make it into the mba, that would be financial suicide for apple's mbp lineup

I'm eager to see what the smaller die size does for M3 in the Mac mini. Work is gonna need to upgrade my creaky old 2017 MBP and I hope it lasts until that is released.

And then of course, the M3 Max in the Studio is what I really want to see.
