Amazon this weekend has record low prices on every M3 MacBook Air, including the 13-inch and 15-inch models. Amazon introduced this sale about one week ago and it remains one of the only retailers to have these all-time low prices on the 2024 MacBook Air.

For me to buy a Macbook it needs at least 1TB storage and 16GB RAM at maybe $1000 price. I may have to run Windows on a VM and would like some storage space and RAM for that. But until then I guess I'll wait.
You'll need to go back a few generations and consider used or refurbished models for that. I wouldn't expect a brand new MacBook with those specs and that price anytime soon, if ever.

Yeah and as someone who's been buying Macs (only) since the 1980s if you look across the lifetime of product lines and adjust for inflation, these are crazy good prices. Tempting to get an $899 just for light use.

Adorama has most configurations even cheaper ;)

*edit nevermind. I'm stupid, the browser extension didn't account for the Amazon discount. :/

Killer price. 8gb is fine for most people and people complain about storage but 256gb is plenty. I don't know what they're doing with theirs to fill up so quick, I can't even fill up 40gb.I have tons of photos and documents on mine. All my music is in Youtube music and all my movies and tv shows are on my google drive.

If I ever needed more than 256gb I would just use a portable ssd.

The real story here is paying $430 to add an extra 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, a configuration that they simply ought to be coming with anyway in 2024. That’s adding almost 50% to the base model price(!!) for maybe $50 worth of components (probably much less with Apple’s buying power).

Perhaps if Apple just boosted the base model specs a little, they wouldn’t have to discount them so much?

Hi,

Just to know: how much do you pay for the Windows license?

No such prices in Sweden, but we also have taxes included in our prices.
I've learned that's not the case in US when you talk abt yr prices.
I’m however enjoying my M3, that I payed approx. $2000 /20000 Skr for. all included.
with 16/500.

Considering the incomes of average people in the U.S., $899 is still a bit high and not a fair price, but still much closer to a fair price than the $1,099 that the greedy corporate scumbag Tim Cook charges.

I wish Apple though made 1 TB MacBook Air available as prefigured configuration available to buy on Amazon instead of forcing users to pay full price at Apple’s website as customized configuration. 512 GB max is not going to cut it for most users that are looking to get powerful machine on a budget……

$899 is actually a fair deal and not high for device that’s much more powerful than latest Surface laptop (even though Microsoft claims otherwise, I call BS on it) and especially for device that is going to last for very long time. It’s a worthwhile investment in long run.

Since I complained about it for years... It is so nice now that Apple now has a "preconfig/retail available" 16/512 configuration of the MBA that retailers like Bestbuy, Amazon and Costco can now carry and discount. Hopefully that comes to the iMac soon.
Extra credit if you make the purchase for in-store pick up in a tax free state like OR.

The sweet spot is the 13" 8 GB x 512 GB model. 256GB just isn't enough. If you want to do games or pro work, then of course the 16 GB model. But all of them will get cheaper. Usually about $150 less when the M4 is announced and Amazon wants to clear out their stock of M3s.

who buys a laptop with just a 256gb SSD? thats sick in 2024. Apple must think we are all fools.

Base should be at least 512GB. I dont touch anything under 1 TB.

Yep, this is great for the perennially connected. I have a 256 Dell and a 2TB external for documents and media.

My 512 MacBook shares that external HD but I have well over half of the internal drive available. I get that some people use their laptops for work or hobbies that take up a lot of storage so that’s still valid also, but my work Macbook is provided by my employer so I benefit from not doing double duty on my main.
