Today’s #ThursdayDiscovery feature highlights a study by Plowey et al., showcasing the impact of #aducanumab on Alzheimer’s disease neuropathology. This pivotal research utilized Visiopharm's advanced image analysis software to achieve remarkable insights and precision. • Whole Slide Image (WSI) Analysis: Digitized slides were analysed using custom-designed segmentation and quantitation algorithms. • Quantification of Immunoreactivity: Accurately measured Aβ and pTau densities in cortical regions, generating detailed heatmaps to visualize accumulated object area. • Microglial Recruitment: Quantified the engagement of microglia with Aβ plaques by measuring the percentage of IBA1 area within specific radii of plaques. • NP-Tau Quantification: Segmented and quantified neuritic plaque tau (NP-Tau) within Aβ plaques, providing crucial data on tau pathology.
