And today, I’m here to spill the beans on how we make sure our avatars are accessible and friendly for all children, including those who are colorblind and neurodiverse. Our Avatar Adventure 🌟 At ZULA, every avatar has its own story, inspired by the incredible people on our team. Each character embodies not just our appearances but also our emotions, quirks, and unique backgrounds. We’ll share those fascinating stories another time, but for now, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of making our avatars truly inclusive. Making Magic Happen ✨ 1. Color Accessibility: - Colorblind-Friendly: We ensure our avatars are easily recognizable for kids with color vision deficiencies. Think of it as making sure everyone can enjoy the rainbow! - Perfect Contrast: Our avatars pop with the right amount of contrast, making them easy on the eyes. - Gentle Palettes: We skip the harsh blacks and whites, and avoid those flashy, aggressive color combos. Instead, we use colors that are friendly and soothing. 2. Neurodiversity Awesomeness: - Simple Shapes: We keep our designs straightforward and uncomplicated. Imagine clean lines and clear forms that are easy to understand. - Calm Colors: We choose colors that are gentle and calm, avoiding overstimulation. It’s all about creating a peaceful visual experience. The Journey Continues 🚀 Our work is never truly done. Every time we present our avatars, we learn something new. We take feedback seriously and use it to improve continuously. Our avatars are always evolving because we’re always researching, discovering, and learning from our experiences. Ever wondered why there's a childhood picture of me on the first slide of my ZULA pitch deck? Let me share the story behind it. I kicked off my pitch with a simple truth: Children are the future. But here's the question: why aren't we setting them up for success? That's where my childhood picture comes in. As a second-generation immigrant to full-time working parents who didn’t speak the local language, I faced my share of challenges. Luckily, I developed a love for books early on, even before I could read! Books were my escape and my sanctuary. But my parents couldn't keep up—they lacked the time and resources to provide me with the books I craved. It got to the point where I was reading kitchen manuals and cookbooks! Imagine that. As a neurodiverse and bilingual child, I longed to see myself in the stories I read, to feel represented. But access to such books was limited. This isn't just my story—it's the story of millions of kids and families around the world. That’s why we created ZULA. If you believe that kids are the future, let's set them up for success together! Navigating the complexities of digital content creation and ensuring accessibility to all remain top priorities. Yet, every step has been rewarding. A memorable highlight? The ZULA 10in1 events. It's the final countdown! As we gear up for the next big pitch event, AiDiA applicants have been thoroughly tested over the past few weeks.
