Zeekr gifted the car to an older Zeekr 001 owner with 320,000 km, the longest of any Zeekr owner.
Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) saw the 200,000th delivery of the Zeekr 001, the shooting brake model that was its first and main selling model.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered the model today at its plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang province in eastern China, and held a ceremony to celebrate the occasion.
The Zeekr 001 was initially launched on April 15, 2021, and deliveries began in October 2021.
The model took 110 days to see cumulative deliveries of more than 10,000 units, reaching its 200,000th delivery in 972 days, according to the company.
Zeekr gave away the 200,000th Zeekr 001 for free to an older Zeekr 001 owner who has accumulated 320,000 kilometers on his vehicle, the longest of any Zeekr owner.
The EV maker held a livestream today showing a teardown of the owner's old car to demonstrate its durability.
The long-mileage Zeekr 001 has no hidden cracks in the chassis module, no visible rust in the body, and the air conditioning is fully functional, according to Zeekr.
The car's battery is at 91 percent health, well above industry standards, Zeekr said, adding that it can still accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.98 seconds.
Shooting brake models have previously been a niche market in China, as consumers have been more receptive to regular sedans or SUVs (sport utility vehicles).
Despite this, the Zeekr 001 was an unexpected success and delivered 76,246 units in 2023, contributing 64 percent of the 118,685 units delivered by Zeekr in the year.
By the end of May this year, the cumulative deliveries of the Zeekr 001 stood at 194,379 units, contributing 73.5 percent of all Zeekr deliveries of 264,397, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
On February 27 of this year, Zeekr launched the 2024 Zeekr 001, an updated version of the model that comes standard with an 800 V electrical system, which delivers better energy consumption and charging performance than the 400 V of its predecessor.
The updated Zeekr 001 is available in four variants, including two with starting prices of RMB 269,000 ($37,050), one with a starting price of RMB 299,000 and one with a starting price of RMB 329,000.
In addition to the Zeekr 001, Zeekr's other models currently on sale are the Zeekr 007, Zeekr 009, and Zeekr X.
The Zeekr 007 is a sedan with conventional looks and is Zeekr's first for the mainstream market.
The Zeekr 009 is an MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) while the Zeekr X is a compact SUV.
In May, Zeekr delivered a record 18,616 vehicles, surpassing the previous record of 16,089 vehicles in April.
In the January-May period, Zeekr delivered 67,764 vehicles, up 111.68 percent year-on-year. The company is targeting to deliver 230,000 vehicles this year.
