Xiaomi EV, the car-making arm of Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), has seen cumulative deliveries of its first model, the SU7, surpass 20,000 units as it struggles to ramp up production capacity.

"As of yesterday, cumulative deliveries of Xiaomi SU7 have crossed 20,000 units. Thank you for your support," Xiaomi EV wrote on Weibo today.

June's single-month delivery will cross 10,000 units, and Xiaomi EV will secure 100,000 deliveries throughout the year and challenge the 120,000-unit delivery target, it said, repeating targets previously mentioned by Xiaomi's management.

Xiaomi launched its first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, on March 28, offering three variants -- standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($29,760), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.

Deliveries of the standard and Max versions of the SU7 began on April 3, while deliveries of the SU7 Pro began in May. On May 15, Xiaomi EV said it completed delivery of its 10,000th SU7.

The model has been facing capacity bottlenecks since its launch, with it gaining unprecedented acceptance.

Customers who currently order the Xiaomi SU7 have to wait around 30 weeks for delivery, while the delivery cycle for the highest priced Max variant is as long as 35 weeks, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.

During the week of June 3-9, insurance registrations for the Xiaomi SU7 stood at 2,100 units, down 4.55 percent from 2,200 units in the previous week, and down from 2,700 units in the week of May 20-26, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Discussions about the continued decline in Xiaomi EV sales became a trending topic on Weibo yesterday, and Xiaomi's management was forced to issue a clarification.

Xiaomi EV's current number of locked-in orders is growing steadily every day, Wang Hua, general manager of Xiaomi Group's PR department, said on Weibo yesterday, adding that delivery pressure is extremely high due to the very limited number of delivery centers at present.

Xiaomi EV has started double-shift production in June, and based on the current delivery figures, is confident of delivering more than 10,000 in a single month this month, he said.

Xiaomi delivered 8,646 SU7 series cars in May, bringing cumulative deliveries to 15,764 in 2024, Xiaomi said in a June 2 Hong Kong Stock Exchange announcement.

On June 7, local media outlet Sina Tech reported that Xiaomi's car factory is hiring more workers as part of Xiaomi EV's efforts to meet its annual delivery targets.
