To start out with, this laptop is slightly lower end compared to other Acer V Nitro model variations, so keep that in mind so you don't get confused by the last gen GPU (RTX 3050)

The laptop itself is great, a backlit keyboard, sturdy build & not unnecessarily heavy, with a good length on the charger itself.

It comes with Windows 11 Home, which for a higher end laptop is not really great. something like this should use Windows 11 Pro, which gives you slightly better functionality within the operating system. Not a deal breaker, but hopefully they improve that with later models.

It does come with a little bit of bloatware pre-installed, ExpressVPN, an Anti-Virus among other things. They aren't super intrusive, but worth uninstalling if you don't use them, If you do want to use a VPN or an anti-virus, there are better options than what are pre-installed as well.

The performance of the laptop is modest. It comes with a good processor & a GPU that for on-the-go gaming, nobody can complain about. It's not the most powerful, but in many cases it doesn't need to be. If you're planning on just playing games such as Counter Strike, Rocket League, War Thunder or Even some AAA titles, they can run on this no problem. In some cases, you may have to turn down the graphics to medium, but it should be plenty good to maintain 60fps in most cases.

The biggest thing I wasn't a fan of was that it's very easily dirtied, even with clean hands putting finger prints & hand prints on this laptop is a guarantee do to the finish that it was given. It's not a huge problem, but it looks not so great to me.

Battery Life is so-so, It highly depends on what you are doing when using the laptop. It handles browsing the internet & doing basic stuff fine, but drains somewhat quick while gaming, which should be expected anyways. Best used while plugged in, but plenty of battery life to game while you wait a couple hours for flight or something of the sort.

The laptop also came at a perfect time for me to use, my computer was on its last legs & practically unusable, & this held me over very satisfactory while I waited for the hardware to fix my main PC.

Overall, a great laptop. The Processor itself rivals my 5600x I have on my Desktop. It is on the lowest point of what I would consider high-end laptops, but is more than enough for nearly anything but the most intensive gaming you can do.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I think this Acer Nitro V is a pretty good gaming laptop. I think it does what it intends to do well, and can do a lot of things you want to do quickly. I’ve been really enjoying it, and having been using it for a lot of different things. I think the main thing that I miss from my old laptop is the charger, where with this laptop I need to have a dedicated power brick (which is pretty big, but slim).

Here’s what I like about it:
-it’s pretty fast for the price
-Most places you touch don’t get hot
-When on battery power, it’s really quiet (at least on “quiet mode”)
-Keyboard layout is good, it feels pretty good to type on too.
-It’s really slim for a “Gaming laptop”
-Good choice of components.
-The touchpad is very responsive, and the clicks are nice and tactile.
-The screen looks really nice, at least if you’re looking directly at it. It also supports HDR10.
-The processor is pretty fast. It’s about on par with the 3700x (with it beating it in single core, but losing out in multi-core scenarios).
-3050 performs pretty close to a desktop 3050
-Temperatures are well under control. Most cores hit a maximum of around 90 (one does hit 100C, but these are momentary, probably only a couple of milliseconds), and the 3050 has never gone above 70 in my tests.
-Comes with a laptop sleeve
-The numberpad is nice on a laptop of this size
-There’s an extra M.2 Slot
-Really light (for a gaming laptop) at 2100g
-The Wi-Fi is good. It’s really consistent, and I only really gain 5 ping when using it. (ie normally I’m at 15ping, and when I use Wi-Fi I’m at 20 ping)
-The SSD is pretty fast. Mine came with the Western Digital SN740
-RAM, SSD, WiFi Card, and battery are all easily replaceable. There's also an open M.2 2280 port.

And here’s what I don’t like about it:
-It’s a fingerprint magnet (mine looks gross, and I clean it regularly. Like every day regularly.)
-It has a barrel plug
-Certain areas can get hot
-Can be pretty loud on performance mode
-No fingerprint reader
-I/O could be better (wish there were more USB C ports, but having 3 USB As are good)
-The top of the laptop isn’t flat. There’s nubs on it, which can get caught when you’re putting it in a bag
-There’s a ton of bloatware installed when you get it.
-Battery life kind of sucks (it sucks with all Gaming laptops, but it is something I think I should mention)
-It has that “Gamer aesthetic”. It’s super flashy, and probably not good for taking into a meeting or something.

The main thing that I don’t like is that they use a barrel plug. I really wish they used USB C here, as it’s just way more convenient than a barrel plug. I don’t think I’d need to explain why, but if you’re curious, if you have a USB-C charging laptop, and a USB-C phone, you can just bring around 1 USB C charger, and it’ll work. The only other thing that I don’t like is that it’s super loud on performance mode. The fans run at around 7000RPM, and I can hear them really clearly through my IEMs.

I’m also going to talk about how hot the exterior of the laptop gets here. Certain areas do get really warm to the touch. These are mainly areas where you won’t touch though (as the exhaust is pointed at the screen of the laptop). The only other area that does get warm is the very back of the laptop, which could be an issue if you are gaming, and it’s on your lap (the bottom back can get hot). All the other places (like the touchpad and keyboard) don’t get hot though, and usually stay room temperature, or slightly warm.

If you’re looking specifically for a laptop that’s good for AI workloads (specifically local AI workloads), I don’t think this is the laptop to get. The graphics card is just a little bit too slow to do a lot of image generation (not to mention the amount of vram is a little too small), and can get quite frustrating if you’re looking to do stuff with the latest and greatest of SD (ie SDXL and in the future SD 3.0). It’s fine for things like TortoiseTTS, GPT4All, Alpaca, etc. But these are generally lighter on the GPU anyways, so that really shouldn’t be a surprise. However, if you’ve never tried any local AI stuff before, I think this is fine if you’re strapped for cash. It can definitely work (if you limit the vram usage, there’s a bunch of settings you should enable for this), and if it’s the only thing I had, I wouldn’t complain.

Just a note on repairability if that’s important to you. It’s pretty repairable, all things considered. It’s pretty easy to take apart (you only need a Philips 1 screwdriver and some guitar picks), as there’s only 11 screws. There’s an extra M.2 slot (with the accompanying sizes for anything from a 2230-2280), and the ram and battery are also easily replaceable. Neither are soldered, and the battery is screwed into place, which is good. There’s also some daughter boards that are easily replaceable, should they become available at some point.

I guess the main competitor would be the Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8, which is about $100 cheaper, and is relatively the same spec wise. The only real thing that’s different I think is the overall thickness, where this one is thinner than the Lenovo. In this price point I would be on the lookout for renewed or refurbished laptops, as some are really good deals, and you basically don’t have any downsides with them (of course, if you’re okay with something being refurbished).

I don’t really think that this laptop is all that bad though, despite having a whole bunch of “cons”. They’re more just things that I’ve noticed while I’m using it. I think if you’re in the market for a gaming laptop, and are okay with this price, It’s a good buy. I don’t think you’ll be overly disappointed with the specs. I do think there are laptops that compete well at this price point though, so I’d take a look at everything available to you.

Edit:
Unfortunately I can't upload any of the photos I took. I guess Amazon just doesn't like them. You're going to just need to take my word for this, but here's some benchmarks that I took, and their scores.
Cinebench 2024: CPU (Multi Core): 635, CPU (Single Core): 87, Combined score of 3314 (Average clock of around 4.1Ghz)
3Dmark Time Spy: Graphics Score: 4988, CPU Score 9219, Combined score of 5356

I suspect my Time Spy score is a little bit low as I ran the benchmark as soon as I got the laptop. I'll probably run it again at some point to see if the score increases. Just be aware this is probably on the lower end of scores.
