I bake a lot of sourdough breads, and a straight razor is important to me when making intricate cuts and designs. The advantage of this style lame, for me, is that it gives me better control of the blade than I have when I use one with a longer handle.
I'm impressed with this lame for several reasons:

It's important to know how to use this style lame:
✅ The two halves need to be unscrewed and completely separates
✅ The razor needs to be placed over the screw to keep it centered.
✅ Screw the two halves of the lame back together to hold the razor firmly in place
✅ After using, partially unscrew the two halves to loosen them and slide the blade between in so it's hidden

Razor not secure
I am not very fond of this lame. The razor will not stay in between the 2 pieces of wood securely and stay in place. When you score the dough it does not stay and moves around. Very hard to work with, not safe. It just will not go tight enough. Some wood lames have a little peg along with the center screw to hold the razor in place . No instructions included. Complete loss for me.

I LOVE high quality, beautiful, kitchen cooking and baking tools. This is, imo, is heirloom quality. It's made of beautiful hardwood with a lovely grain and food grade finish, and the "label" and little floral design are engraved in the wood. Lovely craftsmanship.
In the center of this Scoring Lame is a little hex screw that can be loosened and tightened. I loosened it and inserted a blade, then tightened it. It holds firmly and securely. Super easy.....I like it. It's not too often I'll be changing blades, except to flip it to use the side that was secured in the lame. I cut my dough gently; not Freddy Kruger style, but it's important to use care with sharp blades, of course. Lol
The kit comes with a burlap (or muslin?) drawstring bag to store my wooden lame in, and a box or razors. Very nice quality Round Wooden Lame kit, and good value.
