The 16GB Gigastore MLC microSD card works well on a Raspberry Pi 4. Its read/write performance on RPi4 is comparable to popular microSD card such as Samsung EVO+. While I cannot verify it's really using MLC NAND, I feel more comfortable using a high endurance rated MLC card instead of the slightly cheaper 3D TLC NAND ones.
Raspberry Pi 4
Read: hdparm -t /dev/mmcblk0
Timing buffered disk reads: 134 MB in 3.01 seconds = 44.47 MB/sec
Write: dd if=/dev/zero of=/home/pi/test bs=8k count=50k conv=fsync; rm -f /home/pi/test
419430400 bytes (419 MB, 400 MiB) copied, 18.8011 s, 22.3 MB/s
For comparison, using a USB3 SD Reader, it's able to achieve its advertised read speed and just fall short of the rated write speed.
