Excellent replacement for my all-in-one - seamless setup and operation

Excellent replacement for my all-in-one - seamless setup and operation
I am not an expert when it comes to the inner workings of computers, so I'm not going to spout the pros and cons of this or that core processor. I'm not a gamer or a heavy downloader (anymore). I did however get to work from home for over two years, and am currently working in a hybrid environment, so still working from home about 40% of the time.Leading into the pandemic I owned a refurb MacBook Air 13" which was seldom used for more than occasional word processing or other tasks that couldn't as easily be done on an iPhone or iPad, or when I wanted to work outside on my balcony on a sunny morning. I also have like 3-4 obsolete PC laptops squirreled away in a drawer, for reasons I cannot begin to explain, but I hadn't had an actual "desktop" PC in many many years. I purchased an All-In-One PC right at the beginning of the work from home orders, because I knew there was no way I could function for extended periods of time on my MacBook. It was on sale and I think I paid around $600 for it, added an additional monitor and upgraded a few other peripherals as well, but let's just say over the past 2.5 years it's very clearly showed it's value, or lack thereof. Around Prime Day this year I'd begun actively looking for an affordable upgrade and become quite enamored by the idea of a mini PC, since at my office I have worked from a thin client for the past 8+ years, as the majority of my work is done through a virtual desktop, whether I'm physically in the office or working from home, and it works relatively well while taking up very little space. The things I typically look for in a computer are the memory and hard drive space above all else. Since I'm not a gamer I'm not terribly concerned about having an amazing graphics card or other features like that. I basically just want a PC that has enough capacity to run smoothly without lag or crashing because I've got one too many applications running at any given time. This mini PC has definitely fit the bill for me, and integrating it into my work from home setup has been almost completely seamless. Of course with this change I chose to purchase another monitor, and took the opportunity to get a beautiful 27" curved monitor which I love. My previous second monitor has remained as such, and both were plug and play - as they should be.This was my first experience with Windows 11 and that I think might be the thing that has taken the most getting used to just since the interface is a bit of a change since Windows 10 for sure, but it's still Windows and it's pretty user friendly and intuitive if you have any familiarity at all. Initial setup was super quick as the operating system is already loaded so you're ready to go right away.I love that the computer itself is so small, even though I know it's certainly not the smallest available option for a mini PC. It's definitely small enough for me to not feel like it's taking up precious desk space at all. It came with two HDMI cables (albeit one really short one that I didn't end up using), which was unexpected but nice if you don't happen to have 50 extra ones floating around at home..Obviously there are some limitations with a mini PC setup, but most are pretty easy to overcome with things like a USB hub if you need extra ports for your peripherals. I no longer have the benefit of built in speakers and an included webcam, but this mini PC has Bluetooth capability so I've been able to use Bluetooth headphones to be able to have Zoom meetings without issue (though I think I'll probably buy a sound bar and an actual mic at some point, since I don't love wearing headphones when I'm working from home). At the time of my writing, this mini PC is priced at $569, with an available $100 off coupon. I personally think that is very reasonable for what you're getting. While again I cannot speak to whether this would be what you're looking for if you're a gamer or doing more than running a VCS on a daily basis, but for my purposes it's been more than adequate, and a HUGE upgrade from my laggy All-In-One.

It's great. Fast and work's flawless. Even though it has a fan it is very quiet. Works good for me.

This is a great mini PC. I have not used Tech Support and do not use it for gaming so I had to give both a 1 star. For general home office use it is great. Very easy to set up and Microsoft 365 works great on it. Additional camera was easy to set up. The only other thing I wish it had was a couple of additional USB port in the back to clear any clutter on the front. After 3 weeks of use, no issues. Great deal at a great price.

This was bought to run as a LibreElec box serving mainly as a TVHeadEnd front-end. Combine it with a Pulse-Eight USB HDMI CEC adapter (so that you can control the user interface with your television's remote control) and it does its job perfectly. It has enough horse power to serve as a HTPC, is small enough to be discreet in the living room, doesn't make enough noise to be distracting and doesn't cost a fortune. All in all, I can recommend this little box for such duties.

I'm not a computer pro, just an amateur, and I expected to struggle at least a little with setting this one up and frankly didn't believe such a small unit would work as well as the lap top it was replacing. I'm happy to be wrong - this little computer is a workhorse and was a dream to set up! I've been using it for a few months now and I still love it. It's fast, intuitive, more memory than I'll ever use and no problems at all. Love it!

This little PC is quick, quiet and runs MS OFfice 365 apps like a champ. It was very easy to set up and the video quality is super on the HDMI connection. I'm very happy with this unit and would buy again anytime.

My main concern with getting a smaller PC like this one was noise and it's really quiet. It sits about 18" away from me on the desktop and I've never heard it. I'm not really pushing it, and not gaming at all, but I am playing videos and I've never noticed it at all. Plus, as I mentioned, all my apps run quickly with no issues. Super happy here! Starting the unit up is fast too which is an added bonus.

Bought this to create a development station at work. Took me nearly 15 tries of restarting and resetting windows itself to be able to finally install the programs I need. More than 50% of the time, when I tried to install a program, it would bluescreen.

I got it working eventually, but after maybe 4 uses it just updated and now it can not be repaired. No options work. Every recovery option says, "something went wrong" and so this has been the most expensive brick I've ever purchased.

Would be amazing if the sellers would exchange this for me but it has been a few months now. I should have returned it after the first bluescreen.

Have 2 of these. One for Plex server ( works great with IGU N100 hardware acceleration for transcoding ). Fans a little noisy so I’d avoid using in the same room.

Second one is for work, can run premier pro without need of proxies ( 4k 10 bit footage ). Can’t comment on the gaming capabilities as I use cloud gaming ( which works flawlessly with the WiFi 6 and Ethernet port )

Highly recommend.

I was considering building a custom server or buying a prebuild server like dell optiplex or umbrel, stumbled across this mini PC while following guides.

Well worth the money for the spec. I have it setup with plex and many other automated solutions to feed into my cloud storage and media storage.

1 click setup, windows was preinstalled.
Have remote desktop setup as it's the pro version so I just leave it hooked up to the router and no screen or devices attached other than the storage drives.

Very low wattage so it costs a lot less to run 24/7 than my main PC which is why I wanted this. Great product 👌

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value & Powerful Mini PC
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 26, 2024

Incredible Mini PC for a very reasonable price compared to an equivalent desktop tower. It comes with Windows 11 Pro out of the box. The speed of the system is very snappy and it tackles more demanding programmes like video editing and photo editing easily and has a trial of Microsoft 365. When it comes to gaming it can't really handle AAA titles albeit at very low settings but older games can run easily on medium/high with good framerates. I ran old titles like Battlefield 2, the original Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim all at the highest settings with no issues.

If you want a powerful Mini PC for everyday tasks and some demanding programmes at a reasonable price, that also saves space and is energy efficient, I think this should be good enough for most people's needs in comparison to the more expensive systems.
