It is a cost-effective solution to allow your DisplayPort computer to work with the HDMI display for business, home entertainment, conference rooms, and more.

  • This cable is designed to connect the laptop with DisplayPort output, the monitor with HDMI input, it could not work in the opposite direction.

  • Desktops and laptops with an available DisplayPort output, the monitor with HDMI input.

Note:

  • It does not work with monitors with DisplayPort input, it is a one-way adapter. If your video source is HDMI and the monitor has a DisplayPort input. Another solution requires HDMI to DisplayPort and an external power input. (Please refer to the product comparison table at the bottom)
  • Please note that USB and mini DP are not the correct interfaces! Please check the product pictures to identify the correct connector before purchase.

After connection, it defaults to extended mode, which is equivalent to extending the screen range of the monitor connected through VGA. We need to use the mouse to drag the content that needs to be displayed on the monitor to the right out of the computer screen, and then drag it to the monitor screen connected to VGA.

To switch modes, you can right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings, then click Multi-screen Display to switch mirroring mode.

Note:

1） Not Bidirectional, Only from Displayport Computer/Laptop to HDMI Monitor

  • It's not for the monitor with DisplayPort input, it's an uni-directional adapter.
  • Not work with Fire TV Stick, XBOX, PS4/PS5 etc. Which have HDMI output port.
  • If your video source is HDMI and monitor is with DisplayPort input. Another solution, HDMI to DisplayPort with external power input is required. Please see the table in the following.

2）Passive Cable

  • There are very few docking stations that do not support DP++ mode. You can check whether the DisplayPort slot of your device has a DP++ logo. If not, you need another solution, Active DP to HDMI. (Please refer to the product comparison table at the bottom)

3）Not Compatible with USB

  • Displayport is different with USB Port. This Cable is Not compatible with USB Port.

The 6ft grey cable is more like a black cable with white dots, so not grey at all. The actual HDMI and Display port plugs are dark grey.Other then that, the cable is flexible and came with a kind of magnetic strap.

This cable is of excellent quality. It works exactly as described. As others have mentioned, this is only a 1 way direction. The source needs to be the PC (display port side) and the destination is the monitor (HDMI side). This will not work if the PC is HDMI and the monitor is a Display port. That aside, everything is great and exactly what I needed!

This cable seems to work fine, good picture quality and seems to be rugged enough for my basic needs. I needed a solution to convert the output of an upgraded older Lenovo Thinkcentre M910q Tiny ( small business pc ) from displayport to my monitors hdmi input. My options were to buy an adapter and then use an hdmi cable of my own or buy this cable with displayport on the input side (pc) and hdmi on the output ( monitor ) side. I chose the cable route mainly to keep the depth shorter. It seemed to me that using an adapter and then plugging a cable into that would have made the finished product clunky to fit into the space I had available. I am sure in a different scenario the adapter would be fine but for me this was the better solution.
