What I liked best about this unit was it's claim to work with both Apple Car Play and Android Auto. My daughter previously used a Samsung S22 and had recently switched to an iPhone 14. She tried pairing the device to her phone and could not get it to work. Quite by accident, she happened to damage her iPhone 14 and had to go back to the Samsung. Thankfully, this device paired without a hitch. According to her, she's happily using Android Auto and shortly after receiving this gift, she went on a long trip to an unfamiliar city and told me the GPS app had allowed her to navigate without problems. She said it was perfect so I'm giving it 5-stars.

I must have purchased 4 of these wireless carplay devices for my 2018 Audi Q5, and previous ones either wouldnt work at all, or constantly disconnect within seconds. This one was a bit better, and does stay connected for longer, but i wouldn't call it a "win". On my typical droive to work (30min) it just stops broadcasting my GPS (waze) and music just stops. The screen freezes and ultimately wireless carplay fails. This requires me to unplug the wireless carplay dongle here and reset it.

The main issue i see if the extremely limited wifi range from the device to my phone. My iPhone 15 Pro sits about 2 ft away (direct line of sight) from the dongle, but the wifi signal is a single bar on my phone. Any interference whatsoever disconnects it. The RSSI signal improves if i place the "wireless dongle" right up against my phone, but only still to about 2 bars. But then it doesn't d/c. This leads me to believe this ios the main issue causing this to constantly fail. If i have to have this dongle 2 inches away, i might as well just use the Apple Cable directly to the car.

Its a huge issue in urban areas, but out in the country with less wifi interference it seems to do ok in its armrest location.

Personally, if you live in a busy urban area with tons of traffic and 1000 wifi enabled cars next to you, id avoid this. Its not worth the cost.

Have tried other dongles that promise to work with every vehicle that haven’t. Can’t speak for other manufacturers at this time, but this works good in my my Ford with Sync 3 . Has a bit of a weird boot screen when it first loads but after about 5-6 seconds works perfect.

So nice not to have plug and unplug my phone every time you get In And out of the car. I know it’s a minor inconvenience but this is such a nice little piece of tech to have.

I found it very difficult to get the Carlinkit 5.0 to pair to a Samsung S23. It wouldn’t pair at all, after some research on the internet it said to roll back the firmware. I think this information should presented in the product description on Amazon as I think most people would give up and return the product. Once the firmware was rolled back the Carlinkit did pair with the S23 how ever none of the lights would turn on at all. I did not reach out to customer support.
