I bought this to protect the analog sticks from wear and tear. I installed it before actually reading the instructions. I put one side of the grip in and twist (I do not recommend doing this btw because you might damage the controller if you aren't careful.)Most of the 1 star reviews came from those who were having a hard time installing the grip. I tried to follow it and it's easier than my method. It may take a few tries turning it inside out. It took me less than 2 mins to install. It fits my PS4 and PS5 controllers perfectly and it doesn't slip while gaming. I'm satisfied with it so far and I will update this review if I encounter any problems in the future.
Bought these to try out since paying 25 dollars CAD for a single set of KontrolFreeks is a bit expensive. They seem to be good so far, the rubber is not slippery, height is good, grip feels fine and they worked on multiple brands of controllers. People online are saying they are kind of hard to install but I didn't have a problem. Just get one of the edges of your pad in the cap then push and twist the cap around in a circular motion and it should slide on.
You get a lot of different heights for a pretty low price. They are a little tricky to install. Once on they feel pretty secure but I do worry they could come off during a game. The Kontrol freak extenders feel more secure and have slightly more grip.
Title says it all, but I'm surprised they managed to miss every mark with these.
They're a challenge to put on, which you'd think okay good, that means they stay on, right? No, they'll come off mid-game. The shorter ones seem reliable, but the taller caps I had to put a bit of double-sided tape under it.
Beyond that, they're also not comfortable. Hard rubber, with unforgiving grip designs makes for sore thumbs. If they were softer, or if they even provided a plain/bald option, that would help loads.
I've tried so many thumbgrippers and have always been disappointed, until I got these. They are a bit hard to install, but not that hard, and once they are on they are not going anywhere so that makes it worth the effort. They are the perfect grip, the diamond shaped raised bits hold your thumb in place perfectly. They have actually improved my gaming - no more slipping of the thumb stick!
I've never used other grips before though, but these do exactly what you would expect them to do. Im worried about the flaps getting worn out but time will tell.
This was a great value purchase and gives every option you could want even if you'll never use all of them.
The first time was tricky to get them on but I wish I knew that i should have stretched them out a bit which makes them easier to put on. I give them a 3 for easy to install but it's really a 4 after it's worked in a bit.
Even though they are a bit more loose now, they NEVER slip or come off unless you really try to take them off.
5.0 out of 5 stars(for Steam Deck) very grippy and helpful, a bit tough to install, a bit too easy to remove

Colour Name: Diamond BlackVerified Purchase
I bought a previous set of thumbstick caps, from another company, for my Steam Deck. They were decent, but only came in short and tall. I ordered this set because it had a mid height pair and the diamond grain pattern looked like it might be better.
I definitely prefer the mid height, and they do feel better overall than the other brand. The diamond grain pattern, which is convex, seems more effective than the cracked bomb pattern, which is concave. I'm not sure if the pattern or shape is the determining factor, but the cracked bomb/concave caps just didn't seem to grip as well.
They also fit better in my TomToc bag (which provides a snugger fit than I expected), tall caps stick out too far. So no need to take them off and reattach them just to carry the Deck around safely.
The only issues I have, which aren't deal-breakers, I mentioned in the headline.
I found them tougher to install than expected. Flipping the small lip that holds them to the stick is a bit tricky, and it took several tries to get each on. Once I got them on, I ran into the other issue.
As I titled them slightly to get a better look to confirm they were fully on, they just came off. Almost no effort. While normal use doesn't involve moving them like that, and it seems like they'll be fine when used as intended, it was a little concerning how little they held on. It'd be more concerning if I intended to use the tall caps, since those seem more likely to slip off.
I think the problem, which the other brand avoided, is that the lip is too short. This makes it harder to pull back to attach the cap AND easier for it to slip off if pushed too far. The lip on the other brand was noticeably longer, but those caps were actually easier to attach AND took more effort to remove.
All that said, the caps grip the sticks enough that I'm not super worried about them. Would just have been nice if they were just a little more secure.
