The only downsides are the smaller battery and slower charging speed, but these are minor issues compared to the Pixel 8's overall 'awesomeness'. If you're looking for an android smartphone that doesn't mess around, the Google Pixel 8 is the way to go.

Camera is fantastic, captures best quality pictures. The magic editor feature is super cool.
Have adavnced features like NFC,wallet etc.
Size is superb and fits into my hand.
Cons: Single physical sim slot, would be great if it comes with dual physical sim support. I have to conevert one of my exiting sim to e-sim to use both the sims.
- Google's software is probably one of the optimized Android however, the hardware is not the best in class. Camera quality and battery charging speed could have been improved.
- While comparing the software with its peers, it lacks some AI features like live call translate which I would say is a really smart feature provided you travel in different parts of the world.
- I have seen the camera to struggle while shooting some video that too only in 1080p, 30fps but most of the time it was fine. Low light videography is always challenging for any camera and this is not an exception.
The screen is super quality.
Battery life is impressive.
The cameras take fantastic photos.
Has fewer annoying preinstalled apps compared to other phones, and Android 14 that this phone runs on is great. The user interface is easy and intuitive.
I like the relatively compact size too.
I've yet to find something about this phone that I don't like!
Awful / next to none usable shortcuts. On all the high volume services that you typically switch off/on regularly, none of these are available as a one touch option. When it comes to NFC, I have just given up.
The phone itself is ok, but fails to demonstrate 2024 best in design / manufacture detail v. phones from 3 to 4 years ago.
If you want a phone that is value for money, has the ability to still feel relevant in 2 years time, and is highly intuitive to use, the pixel 8 scores poorly on each of those.
My only note is the '24 hour' battery claim. If you're using it a lot during travel, such as bus or rail you'll be lucky to last 10 hours on one charge. If you're not excessively using it or using power hungry apps, you'll probably be fine there though.
Overall, a great mid-range phone for the price, especially if you don't want to splash out extra £££ for the Pro version.
