The phone is used by my other half as an upgrade from a three-year-old phone. It does what you expect from a modern phone: it manages calls effectively, has clear speakers, offers fast charging, and boasts a long battery life with secure data encryption.It has a 120Hz display refresh rate, a significant improvement over the 60Hz of the previous phone, making interactions like scrolling noticeably smoother and faster. There are new features like Google Lens, which lets you search the web using images, and Magic Eraser, used for cleaning up photos. They have used it to remove the Google logo from the attached photo. There is also a 'Best Take' option, which allows you to select different expressions for each person into one optimal image.Gaming on the phone, from action shooters to simple puzzles, is handled well.However, not everything meets expectations. The face recognition is unreliable, especially in low light, a stark contrast to their old phone. Additionally, the fingerprint scanner has also proven unreliable despite multiple reconfigurations. Another minor issue is connectivity with Bluetooth speakers; there are occasional pauses in audio playback, something never experienced with the previous phone. The phone is also a bit heavier (188g), which might not be a downside for everyone but is worth noting.This phone offers great performance and a host of features that are hard to beat at this price. However, the ongoing issues with the security features mean it falls short of a five star review.

I will quickly compare this phone to my previous 4a Pixel.

I did not find any significant advantage over my previous pixel 4a. The only reason for upgrade was because Google stopped updating the phone and the phone microphone started working intermittently,
final straw was recording King Charles birthday celebration of awesomely loud war planes only to find out sound wasn't recorded. Not sure if this was the phone malfunction or Google software because I looked after it like a baby and being an introvert hardly talked to anyone to warrant a malfunction.

The camera is a tiny bit better but inadequate as it will change white to yellow for no reason, even if you take it in same lighting and same position. I took some photos for a passport renewal against a white wall, multiple pictures one after another, they were consistent but in two ways, either white background or yellow background. So this needs fixing, not had this issue on Pixel 4a.

The face scanner is worse than pixel 4a as it fails to recognise my face considerably more than Pixel 4a.

Finger print scanner is a bit hit and miss.

The only worthy advantage over Pixel 4a is a little longer battery life.

Also on the pixel 4a in order to switch it off you hold the power button, one button on it's own near the volume buttons.
On 8a one button is there but to switch it off you have to press it and the volume up button for some reason, just making things difficult for no apparent reason.

I'm fighting with myself to send it back or not as I want to give it a chance.

In hindsight I would prefer to pay for updates alone than for a phone that might be a little better than aged Pixel 4a but by personal experience feels worse.

To set up this phone was straightforward, nothing to mention about it and the experience that I have with it so far. It is even better than I had expected and after using it for a while as a primary phone I can say that I am pleased with how this phone performs.

Its built quality is also quite good and the screen is responsive enough even when I lock and unlock the phone multiple times a day because of the nature of my job which is testing apps.

The phone is in constant use 24 hours 7 days a week because of the apps that I am working with and so far since I'm using it I didn't experience any issues with it and to my surprise even the battery holds pretty well.

I have tested the camera and different light conditions and I have to admit that it is very impressive, even during the night I am still able to capture clear and crisp images with very low noise and this also applies for the video.

Related to the battery which is an important aspect, in my case because the phone is intensively used, the battery holds for roughly 18 hours which is really good and a full charge of it takes somewhere around one hour and 10 minutes. I have noticed that during the charging process that the battery keeps the normal temperature which indicates that it is well built and most likely it should last for quite a long time.

Specifically for what I need this phone for it works really great and I am very pleased with its performance. This is why without any doubt I'll continue using it.

I read the one star reviews I thought they were funny, this is an excellent phone, you're getting great value for money. You're getting the same thing as if you bought a pixel 8 really. Apart from the screen size, there's probably some more advanced stuff in this model as its 6 months newer as well. The processor is the same.
Anyway it's good.

It’s a Pixel. It does what you want it to do when you want to do it and with the added support of AI functionality the whole experience is faultless, optimised, fluid, consistent and reliable. It’s only a slight design iteration from the previous 7a with the same cameras and now with a 120 Hz panel. The AI features have been inherited from the 8. If you have a 7a and are happy with a 90Hz Panel I wouldn’t upgrade as most of the AI features are available on previous models but the 8a is a worthy upgrade from older Pixel phones.Great phone at a great price.

Hemos comprado dos en casa y estamos encantados hemos llegado a odiar el Iphone, también tenéis el Pro y el 8 si es que queréis algo superior, también pensar que si os subís de categoría la parte trasera es de cristal y se puede romper claro que si. Los podéis comprar por Trade In y os abonan el antiguo a unos valores mas que razonables esto lo hace directamente la marca, Amazon no lo hace pero….ahora esta regalando vales de 100,00€ por la compra de un dispositivo y ofrece el periodo de prueba de 30 días que yo lo utilice en el pixel 7 ya que me salió mal, es decir estas cosas pasan y cuando os pasa la posibilidad de devolverlo pasa por encima de un descuento en la compra que nunca te llegara a compensar. Recomiendo siempre leer las opiniones de los compradores en Amazon para esta marca para que no os pase lo que nos paso a nosotros. Comprarlo aquí en amazon es doble garantia si es que no usais el Trade IN. Por cierto si buscais también cargador inalámbrico recomiendo el vertical de marca amazon que vale unos 21€ es de los pocos que van bien con este teléfono incluso con la funda puesta, ya que os gastareis mas en otro y no os funcionara.
