The Asus Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip are receiving their first major software updates after launch, versions 30.11.51.41 and 30.11.55.37, respectively. These updates started rolling out over the weekend and may take a few days to reach everyone.
The updates have mostly identical changelogs. The image quality of the camera has been improved and there’s a new Document mode. If you have a RhinoShield for your Flip, the camera will now launch automatically once you slide the camera cover out of the way.

System stability and performance have been improved and the security patch has been bumped up (though it’s not clear to which date). Also, the UI now has a one-hand mode, which is probably more useful on the larger Flip than on the petite Zenfone 8. The new Priority Mode mutes all calls except for numbers on a whitelist.
You can go to Settings > System > System updates to manually check if the update has reached your unit. Here are the full changelogs:

It's probably just a marketing strategy to show people that they give out updates. Or sometimes they are needed to fix critical issues that might have remained hidden
Don’t bother with cheap quality Xiaomi phones. The Zenfone 8 is probably an excellent phone already.
